Frequently Asked Questions

Honey Production & Quality

What makes Fuzzy Bum Honey unique?

Our hive-to-home process ensures every jar is authentic, traceable, and packed with care. We prioritise bee health, sustainability, and full transparency to deliver honey as close to nature as possible.

Why is traceability important for Fuzzy Bum Honey?

Every jar of Fuzzy Bum Honey has a story—and we make sure you know exactly what it is! With our traceability system, you can follow your jar back to its beehive and floral source. It’s our way of being transparent and showing you the care that goes into every delicious drizzle.

Why doesn’t Fuzzy Bum use antibiotics or chemicals?

We believe nature knows best. That’s why we never use antibiotics or harsh chemicals, which can harm bees and compromise honey integrity. Instead, we keep our bees thriving the natural way—because happy bees make better honey, and better honey makes happier humans.

How is Fuzzy Bum Honey harvested and bottled?

Our honey is carefully harvested from healthy beehives and bottled with minimal processing to retain its natural goodness. From extraction to bottling, we ensure every step is sustainable and gentle, protecting the unique properties of our honey. Duxton Bees has built a world-class honey extraction facility, where we process honey for accredited beekeepers we work with, who share our values at Duxton Bees and Fuzzy Bum.

The result? Golden goodness that’s as pure as the land it comes from.

What is the current varietal of Fuzzy Bum Honey?

Our current varietal is Blended Mallee, a seasonal honey with a smooth, gently sweet flavour and complex notes reminiscent of cocoa and coffee. It’s harvested along the Murray-Sunset National Park and is as unique as the land it comes from.

How should I store my honey?

Store your honey in a cool, dry place at room temperature. If it crystallizes, don’t worry! Just place the jar in warm water to bring it back to its golden, gooey self—or enjoy the crystals as a natural treat with cheese or crackers. Honey will naturally crystallise, which is an indication that the honey has not been overheated during processing.

Bee Health & Food Security

How does Fuzzy Bum Honey support food security?

Did you know that around 65 per cent of agricultural production in Australia depends on pollination by honeybees? Without them, our favourite fruits and veggies—like almonds, apples, and avocados—wouldn’t exist! By caring for over 7,000 beehives, we’re not just making amazing honey—we’re keeping Australia’s food supply buzzing along, one crop at a time.

What role does Duxton Bees and Fuzzy Bum play in Australian agriculture?

Duxton Bees and Fuzzy Bum is more than a honey producer—we play a vital role in the future of Australian agriculture. Our bees are essential pollinators, supporting food security and sustainability by ensuring healthier harvests through strong partnerships with farmers.

Part of Duxton Bees operations is a pollination service offered to growers to help pollinate their crops. Duxton Bees also help other beekeepers and grower connect through our beehive brokerage business providing over 22,000 beehives to growers.

How does Fuzzy Bum help beekeepers manage the Varroa mite?

The Varroa mite is one of the biggest threats to Australian bees. It will eliminate all feral honeybee colonies, fundamentally changing how we grow food in Australia.

A large proportion of Australia’s pollination comes from feral beehives living in hollows on farms and in urban areas. The disappearance of these feral beehives poses a serious threat to Australian food security. Without dedicated beekeeping efforts from commercial beekeepers, ecosystems and agriculture will be impacted over the coming years as Varroa mite kills most of the feral beehives in Australia.

At Fuzzy Bum, we’re leading the charge to fight this tiny pest. Our Managing Director, Keegan Blignaut, shares his decades of experience through training programs, helping beekeepers adapt and protect their beehives. We’re also proud to support the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council.

Supporting Australian Bees & Communities

How does imported honey impact the Australian honey industry?

Cheap imported honey has flooded the Australia honey market over the last four years, often containing additives, such as sugar syrup and products not collected by bees. Cheap imported honey often lacks the qualities that make honey a great health product. Around 65% of Australian produce relies on pollination, and buying 100 % Australian honey will support a healthy beekeeping industry which is essential for Australian food supply. The importing of cheap honey has a significant impact on the Australian beekeeping industry and beekeepers’ ability to support Australia agriculture as a whole

Supporting Australian honey means YOU are supporting Australian agriculture. When you choose imported honey, you’re supporting the honey and pollination industries of another country. At Fuzzy bum, we’re proud to offer 100% Australian honey that not only celebrates our country’s natural honey resources but also sustains many family- run beekeeping businesses and farmers.

Why is it important to support 100% Australian honey?

Choosing Australian honey supports beekeepers, protects our bees, and safeguards food security. Fuzzy Bum Honey is 100% Australian and traceable, so you know you’re making a choice that matters—for you, for bees, and for the planet.

What is Fuzzy Bum doing to support beekeepers and the honeybee industry?

From funding research to providing training programs, Fuzzy Bum is committed to the future of Australian beekeeping. Every jar sold helps fund initiatives like the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council, and we work closely with farmers to ensure a thriving pollination network.
